To make lasting change requires dedication, time, and teamwork. The ERAS Implementation Program, Interactive Audit System and methodology used by ERAS®USA and ERAS Society provides a methodological and organized way to achieve sustained improvement.
ERAS Implementation Program
The ERAS Implementation Program (EIP) focuses on building well-functioning teams from various units involved in surgical care, introducing highly specific changes to current routines to conform to best practice, and providing the tools to monitor and analyze the effects of those changes through ERAS Interactive Audit System (EIAS). EIP is based on teamwork - nurses, anesthesiologists, surgeons and other experts involved in the perioperative process train and work together in teams. The program follows a specific series of 4 workshops with active projects being performed at home sites in-between. Everything is done with the support of an ERAS coach and medical expertise from Centers of Excellence. The program uses EIAS as a key vehicle to help monitor, control and change outdated clinical practice to that of the most current and best care. The program runs for a period of 8-10 months.
ERAS Interactive Audit System
The ERAS Interactive Audit System (EIAS) is an on-line, web based interactive software tool to facilitate implementation and monitor compliance to the ERAS protocols that are derived from the current evidence-base for decision support and continuous quality control in a healthcare provider setting. Using EIAS allows the team to take advantage of the benefits of the ERAS Protocol in terms of reduction in patient recovery time, rate of complications, and improvement of the quality of care. By continuous follow up, analysis, adjustments and improvements, the perioperative team and its management will not only ensure improved quality of care for the patient, but also improved motivation of the staff involved through their increased understanding and developed engagement in the preoperative care process. EIAS becomes a crucial support in the daily decision making process and an important quality assurance tool. See how EIAS works.
